Director

The light of my life has been without a doubt, my children and parents.  Both are essential motors to my daily drive.

Growing up in Humboldt Park was a tough one, back in my days the struggle of daily survival was just the everyday bread.  My two younger sisters and brother lived the common Mexican-American lives, both parents at work and the older sister to care for them.  Yet that did not stop us from continuing to fight for the American dream. I am honored to say that I continue to embrace my community, see the changes and raise my family here.  Humboldt Park has been part of my journey and will continue to be my children’s.

The road into Early Childhood Education has been so natural, challenging and giving.  It gave me hope and I respond to it with a daily commitment to my students and families.  Challenging because it is true no two days are the same. Giving because one smile makes the difference, one interaction gives you a motive, and one helping hand gives me the reason to continue.

Along my journey in my career, I have had the unconditional support of my husband, my three boys, my sisters, and brother, but without a doubt my parents support.  I’m a dedicated mother who believes strongly in the meaning of FAMILY. I live through my children and that’s the biggest satisfaction a mother can have.

For those reasons, I have pushed myself to become a better version of myself.  I hold honorably an Associates degree in Early Childhood Education. Currently part of the BA. program at National Louis University and though the road has not been easy I continue to walk it.  At Nurturing Niche, Inc. I have found that push, that care, and devotion. Traits that compliment me and my journey and me more than happy to integrate myself into this wonderful team.

I am pleased to introduce myself to you! My name is Miriam Barcenas.  It is my pleasure to be here.
